Adjusting the rear shockAdjusting The Rear Shock
Here are the instructions describing how to adjust the rear shock.
On the left side of the engine is the upper drive belt guard. You’ll have to remove the fasteners and remove the belt guard.
Optionally, you could simply remove the front fastener and let the guard sag out of the way.
This will provide space (albeit tight) to stick your arm in.
Then, just above the rectifier, is where you’ll need to do the adjusting. That’s where you can slip in the shock adjusting tool.
Place the tool on the rear side of the shock and pull towards the front of the bike. It should require about 20-25 lbs of force or so.
Use the spark plug attachment tool on the handle of the wrench to make the task easier.
You can only adjust it one notch at a time before you’ll have to reset the wrench. You should be able to complete the adjustment in less than 5 minutes.
The factory setting is 4 and each higher number makes the shock stiffer. I have mine set at 7 and it feels great to me.
Some people prefer a setting of 5 or 6. You’ll have to experiment to find the setting that suits your style and whether you ride 2-up or not.
Good luck and I hope this helps. Jeffroe and Jack
